
Golden eagles, burrowing owls, ferruginous hawks, Gunnison's praire dogs, and other grassland wildlife are of conservation concern in these areas. However, these grasslands are being invaded by junipers and pinyon pines. to the point where mechanical treatment is necessary before fire can be effectively used for their maintenance.
Project Objectives: To restore or maintain grassland habitat used by pronghorn antelope, elk, mule deer, wild turkey, and many non-game species of conservation concern.
