Junior Elk Hunt Camp

Presented by the Arizona Elk Society and sponsored by the Arizona Game and Fish Department. The Arizona Elk Society hunting camps with mentors are a great place to get
young hunters introduced to hunting. They learn all about hunting from seasoned hunters and our mentors take the kids out with their guardians
to give the first hand lessons that will help them become successful hunters and instill ethics and much more.

3 MEALS PROVIDED BY AES (Please Pre-Register Above):

Thursday - Dinner (5:00 PM)

Friday and Saturday - Lunch (Noon)

AES will provide FREE hamburgers and hot dogs on Thursday evening to youth hunters and their parents.  Hunters and their family are welcome to stop by at noon each day for lunch and refreshments. 


Mentoring

We will be in camp available throughout the weekend, bring your maps, you can ask for help locating elk, or retrieving downed elk.  There will be an archery range setup for the kids to learn about bow hunting and practice shooting the bows. The AES will be holding a seminar for youth hunters and their parents on Thursday evening at 6-6:30pm after the meals.

 

THURSDAY - OCTOBER 12, 2023
5PM: FAMILY DINNER 
6PM/6:30PM: JR. ELK HUNTING SEMINARS

Dinner will start at 5pm and is provided by AES for all family members. Following dinner we will have various presentations on Junior Elk Hunting. Feature presentation by the Arizona Elk Society.

Representatives from the AZG&F as well as the Coconino Forest Service will be on hand.  Arizona Game & Fish officers will give a presentation on hunting safety and local guides will talk about locating elk and answer questions.

The Arizona Elk Society with sponsorship from Arizona Game & Fish, Miller Southwest Processing, Sportsman’s Warehouse, Bass Pro Shops, Dick's Sporting Goods, Cabela’s and Primos will have door prizes and give-a-ways for the youth hunters participating in the seminars.

 

Seminars topics include:

    • Information from the AZG&F and USFS regarding hunting rules and regulations. 
    • Safety while hunting.  (Wearing orange is recommended).
    • ATV or OHV rules and regulations, and safety.
    • Forest Service Travel Management information.
    • Tracking, spotting and locating elk. Proper use of elk calls.
    • Proper meat care, gutting and skinning techniques.
